Throughout my twenties I was a keen rower which was great for my fitness but disastrous for my back because when you row you’re always pulling toward one side. I felt that if I didn’t address it I could have a one-sided posture for the rest of my life.

I had physio and did pilates which were good but both therapies were long-term solutions, and it took time to feel any benefit. It was my sister’s mother-in-law who first alerted me to MBTs. She is a great dog walker and she told me how her overall health and fitness were helped by her shoes.

Within a month of buying my first pair I felt a real difference. I started walking everywhere instead of taking the bus or driving, and felt a great improvement in my body’s core strength.

They’re quite hard work at first, and you certainly know you’re wearing them. They make you stretch your leg muscles and stand centrally at all times. You simply can’t stand with tilted hips so your body’s always in a good position.

I think they’re brilliant.
